Live Market Intelligence
Every output grounded in current market reality, not training data.
"Career advice that does not know what week it is will always feel generic. Live Market Intelligence changes that."
What It Does
Live Market Intelligence is a context layer that grounds every Career Threader output in current hiring conditions. When you complete your intake in The Mirror, the product runs a live assessment of your specific market: your sector, your region, your experience level. The result shapes every output across the cascade, so the advice you receive reflects the world as it is now, not as it was when the AI was last trained.
The Three Metrics
Competition
How crowded the candidate pool is for roles like yours in your region. A high competition reading means the market is saturated with qualified candidates. A low reading means fewer people are competing for similar positions. This directly affects how the cascade frames your positioning: in a crowded market, differentiation matters more than in a sparse one.
Demand
How active hiring is in your sector and region. High demand means employers are actively recruiting and roles are available. Low demand means the market is contracting or static. This shapes whether the cascade leans toward opportunity-seeking or position-strengthening strategies.
AI Impact
How fast AI is changing your sector. A high AI impact reading means your sector is being reshaped by automation and AI tools, which affects which skills to emphasise and how to frame your experience. A low reading means AI is a background factor, not a defining one. The cascade uses this to calibrate how prominently AI readiness features in your positioning.
How the Assessment Works
The assessment runs automatically when you complete Step 1 of The Mirror. Career Threader takes your sector, country, role, and experience level and runs a scoped search of current market conditions. The result is a qualitative reading across the three metrics, each rated high, moderate, or low, with a plain-language note explaining the rating.
The assessment also produces a confidence rating (high, medium, or low) that reflects how much reliable data was available for your specific combination of sector, region, and experience level. Niche roles in smaller markets may return a lower confidence rating, which means the assessment is directional rather than definitive. The cascade accounts for this automatically.
Tip: Be specific when entering your sector and role. "Financial services" and "Senior compliance analyst" will produce a more targeted assessment than "Finance" and "Analyst".
The Freshness Pill
A small pill appears in the navigation bar of every Career Threader tool. It shows the current status of the intelligence layer at a glance.
Pill colours
- Green: Live market intelligence is operational. All systems are responding normally
- Amber: AI performance is degraded. Outputs are still generating but may take longer than usual
- Red: AI service is temporarily unavailable. The team is working to restore service
- Blue: Scheduled maintenance is in progress. Service will resume automatically
Clicking the pill opens a panel with three sections: the current Threader AI status, the Live Market Intelligence status, and the current market posture. The panel also shows when the macro context was last refreshed.
What happens if the pill is not visible
The pill hides itself if it cannot load its data sources. This is deliberate: a half-working indicator would be more confusing than a missing one. If the pill is not visible, the cascade still functions normally using whatever context was available at the time of your assessment.
How It Connects to the Cascade
Your market assessment is stored with your intake data and carried forward into every downstream tool. The Map uses it to shape career direction recommendations. The Thread uses it to calibrate narrative framing. The Interview uses it to tailor preparation advice. You do not need to re-run the assessment unless your intake details change.
If you update your sector, country, role, or experience level in The Mirror, the assessment runs again automatically with the new details. The previous result is replaced.
What It Does Not Do
- It does not provide real-time data. The word "live" means the system is active and current, not that it updates per-second
- It does not name specific companies, salaries, or job listings
- It does not replace specialist career advice for regulated professions
- It does not guarantee accuracy for very niche roles in very small markets, which is why the confidence rating exists
Free vs Personal Tier
Free users see a sample assessment in the pill modal to demonstrate how the feature works. The live, personalised assessment is available on the Personal and Business tiers.
